SmoothWAN on Proxmox - IP addresses

Hello,

I was so excited to see there is a SmoothWAN VMWare image that could be used with Proxmox! I’ve gone ahead and followed the instructions in the guide and I currently have the guest running. However, I have one small issue…

My Proxmox node has been a part of my infrastructure for some time and already provides other services for my network (on the 192.168 private address scheme). So, now that I’ve created the SmoothWAN guest, I can’t access it at the 172 addressing scheme.

I’ve made a backup of the guest before I start futzing around too much… But how difficult will it be for me to change the SmoothWAN guest to operate on a 192 address? If I just change the IP address of the machine, what will break? What other apps have been installed and configured that will stop working?

I’m going to give it a try… But, please let me know if there are any known issues or steps that I need to consider in switching the SmoothWAN instance over to a different subnet.

Thank you!

CB

So, easy enough, I changed the static IP to DHCP and it grabbed an address. I will make this a reserved address so that it doesn’t change. Like I said before though, are there other things that will break due to this change? Thanks!

It shouldn’t, there were problems in older SmoothWAN versions though.
