DNS Server Address Default - How to Change?

Hi Developer, and enthusiast,

First of all, I am really thanking the dev who made this possible.

Today I have managed to install SmoothWAN to my SlateAX router.

However, right off the bat, after installing it, I was not able to login to the gui. So, what I did was, change the IP address, since I was able to ssh.

I’m not knowledgeable in firewalls and openwrt, but I can read instructions and guides

Could someone please, tell me how to change the DNS server IP issue by the router?

Because, it is still using 172.17.17.2.

I’ve updated the router IP address to 192.168.222.1 , since I can’t access the web ui via the default 172.17.17.2. It was so strange why so, because on another machine I can access it.

The current setting now is 192.168.222.1, but the DNS the router is giving is 172.17.17.2
I’ve already did:
Network > DHCP and DNS > DNS forwardings:
1.1.1.1
Can someone please, help!

Hi, try this:

  1. Network > Interfaces > Edit next to LAN
  2. DHCP Server > Advanced Settings
  3. Set DHCP Options to 6,192.168.222.1

172.17.x.x is often used by docker or enterprise VPNs, it was chosen to avoid issues with browser cache when using other routers with same IP in the same browser.

Hi Talal,

Happy Blessed Sunday! Thank you so much for your help. Really appreciate it.

That greatly helped.

On another topic, I hope this is not too much to ask, what does that 6 mean, in 6.192.168.223.1?

Also, I forgot to respond to this, and say thank you! I discovered that there is a docker engine running inside the Unraid Hypervisor. The machine that I am working with the SmoothWAN router, is a Guest VM under Unraid.

Good to hear.
